Today is the day we would be flying to China.
Sometimes life events overtake plans. Those plans could have been carefully laid months in advance, or (like ours) have been made just weeks before. Sometimes something happens in life where there is no question that plans should be cancelled as a result, and other plans, for less happy events, made instead.
I looked up today at 1600 and raised a glass to the flight that would have taken us to Beijing. Tomorrow I’ll look up and raise a glass to my Father in Law as we say a last goodbye.
China will be there for another day, but we have other, far more important plans and places to be right now.
