What to do? A week off work before Christmas, and a world out there to see. I’ve been wondering what and where and when.

Nige is keen to stay in Germany – we have lived here for two and a half years and have yet to see some of the most beautiful places. This creates a slight dilemma for me, and gives me a reality check about what this is all about. As I have discussed before, it’s not (or shouldn’t be) about ‘ticking off’ countries. Yes we live here, and yes we’ve done some travelling around, but have we really seen the country that we currently call home?

The answer is a resounding NO. So, I will put aside the seaches of Christmas in Morocco which had been occupying my internet-time, and hand the lappy to Nige – saying (rather meanly in hindsight) ‘It’s yours to organise’, giving him the (wrong as it happens) impression that I don’t want to have anything to do with it.

Talk is of driving around the former East Germany, however I think Nige may be biting off more than we can chew in the time we have…
