Beautiful Balkans, brilliant idea.
Why do I always end up biting off more than we can chew? Why does working get in the way of time off to travel? Why do we end up going without the girls in school holidays, when the costs are high and the heat will be… well… hot? Why do I have to compromise my carbon footprint because time means to do what I want I have to save time by using flights where if I had an extra week I could use a train? So many questions, and not really many answers that I want to hear.
Flights into Venice and out of Zadar are now booked, and we have exactly 11 days to get from one to the other. Next plan is to attack hostelworld.com for some accommodation, and work out the best way to get from place to place.
Darling Nigel is happy just to be told the plan and be pushed from place to place which is great but also a bit of a burden – all my fault if it goes wrong, which of course it won’t (well, I hope it won’t). I just wish we could be free to wander and not have to rush; being constrained by time and a desk waiting for us when we get back to real life.
I have some jabs booked at the docs in a day or two – can’t wait to be injected with a virus to prevent getting a virus. I’ll have to get my big brave girl act together and pretend I’m cool about being stabbed in the arm. I wonder if they’ll let me have it on a sugar cube like when I was 5? No, I don’t think so either.
